Diplotaxis tenuifolia is the botanical name for wild rocket

Wild’ or ‘Perennial’ Rocket is gaining in popularity; it has narrower and more deeply divided, aromatic leaves than the annual variety. They have a more intense flavour that is sharp and clean, unlike salad rocket, which can become bitter with age in hot weather. They have so much flavour, they hardly need a dressing.

As a perennial plant, it can be sown outdoors all year round in milder climates or given some protection in colder areas. Growing around 20cm tall it can also be grown in containers. Use as a baby leaf in salad mixes, it will “Cut and come again” two to three times. For restaurant-quality micro-greens or pesto, use wild rocket when only the finest ingredients will do. Wild rocket is thinner, darker and hotter.

Pot Size : Wild Rocket can be grown in small grow bag or container which had 6 inches of depth like24×6 Grow bag or 18×6 Grow Bag.

Soil Requirements:
Wild Rocket likes to be in a sunny site with rich, fertile, well-drained soil. Use soil mix with combination of Red Soil , Vermicompost and coco-peat at a ratio of (2:1:1) . Also add 2-5% of Neem Powder to the soil mix. Neem Powder will act as fungicide.

Sowing Wild Rocket Seeds:
sprinkle the seeds thinly at ¼–½ inch deep. If sowing several rows, space them 15cm (6in) apart.

Light and Water requirements:

Rocket can grow both in full light or partial shade. Not enough light may turn the leaves yellowish. Water regularly to keep soil moist, but avoid excessive heat.

Common issues:

Wild rocket is generally disease free but may be attacked by flea beetles. You may use a pesticide like Protector-Bio Insecticide for Pest Control, Guardian-Bio Insecticide or Neem oil.

Harvesting

Harvesting of the leaves can be done from about four weeks after sowing. Regular picking keeps growth young, tender and tasty.
